For you,
the student

Why choose our high school and boarding school?

Our high school paves your way to the top.

1. Your development opportunities

You have a wide range to choose from across major and supplementary subjects. Major subjects: Biology & chemistry, economics & law (taught immersively in English), music, physics and applied mathematics (PAM), Latin, Spanish. Supplementary subjects: Biology & chemistry, history, geography, applied mathematics.

2. Your teaching staff

Firstly, laypeople: in ecclesiastical terms, this refers to all people who are not members of the clergy. Secondly, clergy: fathers and brothers of the Disentis Benedictine community. Our learning support.

3. Your prospects for success

Over the last 10 years, 98% of our students have gained their high school diploma (Matura). And many of them have graduated at above-average speed and with above-average success.

4. Our learning support for you

Sometimes you cannot make it alone. That’s why, in addition to guided self-study, we offer further options that will help you to personally advance. For example: supervised subject consultations & learning support after school, or tutoring from older students or teaching staff.

5. Friends for life

You will make friends for life at our school. In your class, in the choir or through the Desertina Fraternity. You will remain forever connected to us via the Altdisentiser Society.

Our boarding school is extremely character-building!

1. Your independence

You say goodbye to your parents – and at the same time become closer to them. You move away and gain a new independence that strengthens you for your future path through higher education and career.

2. Your goals

Boarding school is the best place to focus on your goals; you have more time for learning, relaxation and the community. You are entirely focused on your individual path to the top.

3. Your leisure activities

Culture, nature, sports – Disentis and the monastery offer everything that you could wish for. Especially if you also spend the whole weekend with us. You’ll take part in organized sports activities; on Saturday night we usually cook together.

4. Your contribution to the community

You. You with others. You and your goals. Your strengths, your talents, and your ideas contribute to the creation of an attractive community. And if you’re not feeling so good, you’re not alone.

5. Your friendships

Life-long friendships are created at boarding school. Many of our boarding students are active in the Desertina Fraternity, and are already forming networks for higher education and career during their school time.
