With its grammatical logic, Latin provides the best basis for an understanding of Central European languages. Latin culture is part of our Western identity.
The "small qualification in Latin" can be taken at our long-term high school. This corresponds to the actual requirements and conditions at colleges. They require Latin as a basic condition for admission to a wide range of different subjects (e.g. languages, history). Although colleges require Latin, several are considering whether they will continue to offer the required Latin courses themselves. Students with no knowledge of Latin would then be compelled to acquire this privately at their own expense.
